Water, Water Everywhere - and Nor a Drop to Drink

From his own label on Shelter Records, Leon Russel sings the "Ballad For a Soldier" in 1968 and from Bob Dylan's newest album The Tempest we hear about the power and greed of the "Early Roman Kings", a blues ballad. Richie Havens wrote the song "Fates" and Joni Mitchell sings that you don't know what you got till it's gone on "Big Yellow Taxi". She wrote a song based on Rudyard Kipling's "If" from her Shine album in 2007. And finally from Van Morrison's most recent recording we hear "If in Money We Trust".
