"Woody's 100th Birthday, Folk Rock of Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Crazy Horse"
Woody Guthrie recorded his first album "Dust Bowl Ballads" in 1940 and we hear "Talking Dust Bowl Blues","The Great Dust Storm" and "I Ain't Got No Home in This World No More".
Bob Dylan was 19 yrs old when he met Woody at the end of his life and wrote "Song to Woody" on his very first self-titled album in 1962, and then we hear "Talking World War III Blues" from Dylan's second album Freewheelin in 1963.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse just released Americana in July 2012 and it is a collection of American folk songs interpreted by Neil. As a reminder of his beginning in folk rock, we hear "Down By The River" from 1969, written by Neil in the style of Appalachian murder ballads. From the newest album we hear "Clementine", "Oh Susannah" and "This Land is Your Land" by Woody Guthrie. When Guthrie was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 Neil Young gave a speech about the influence and importance of Woody.
