Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey and Mary Travers, powerful Amercian east coast folk-singing trio
They bought the folk music of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and the Weavers back into cultural relevance in the 60's. We hear "500 Miles", "Sorrow" and "If I Had a Hammer" from 1962, Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice" and "Blowin' in the Wind" from 1963, Laura Nyro's "And When I Die" from 1966 and Peter Yarrow's magnificent song "The Great Mandella" from 1967. They released an album of new songs in 2004 "In These Times" including "Union Medley: songs by Woody Guthrie" and finally a 2010 recording with Symphony Orchestra "The Prague Sessions". They maintained a successful career and never lost sight of their beliefs in the civil rights of all people for freedom of speech and the rights to clean air and water.
