Livingston Taylor, American Singer, Songwriter, Teacher
I had an interview with Livingston about a week before his concert in Narrowsburg NY. We talk about his music and we hear songs from his most recent recording "Last Alaska Moon".
Singer songwriter Livingston Taylor makes his Tusten Theatre debut on Saturday, May 5 2012 sharing his well-crafted, introspective and original songs that have earned him listeners worldwide.
Livingston is equally at home with a range of musical genres—folk, pop, gospel, jazz—and from upbeat storytelling to touching ballads. Born in Boston and raised in North Carolina, Livingston is the fourth child in a very musical family that includes older brother James Taylor. He picked up his first guitar at the age of 13, beginning a 40-year career that has encompassed performance, songwriting, and teaching.
From top-40 hits “I Will Be in Love with You” and “I’ll Come Running,” Livingston has never stopped performing and touring with major artists such as Linda Ronstadt, Jimmy Buffet, and Jethro Tull.
With a style not unlike his iconic brother, Livingston is a natural performer, peppering his shows with personal stories, anecdotes, and a humor that connects him to his audience. His relaxed on-stage presence belies the depth of his musical knowledge (he is a professor at Berklee College of Music), and fans might just as often be treated to a classic Gershwin or something from the best of Broadway.
